India’s Best Dancer 4 continues to win the hearts of its audience by showcasing incredible talent. In the upcoming episodes, the show will feature a special guest judge—Anurag Basu, a former judge of the dance competition and a renowned filmmaker.
During his appearance, Anurag Basu shared some fascinating stories, including an unexpected encounter with the legendary Michael Jackson while filming his movie Kites with Hrithik Roshan.
In one of the performances, contestant Nepo and his choreographer Vartika Jha danced to the song “Dil Kyun Yeh Mera” from Basu’s movie Kites. The song holds a special place in Basu’s heart, and he shared some behind-the-scenes secrets from the filming.
Basu revealed that the song was shot in a grand mansion in Los Angeles. During the shoot, the team was told to vacate a large bedroom that was being used as a makeup room because Michael Jackson was interested in renting the property. At first, the crew didn’t believe it, thinking it was just a real estate agent visiting. But to their surprise, Michael Jackson actually showed up.
Basu recounted how Hrithik Roshan, who is a huge fan of Michael Jackson, was thrilled and immediately asked for a photo with the music icon. Basu described the moment as surreal, with both him and Hrithik being left speechless by the unexpected visit.
After watching Nepo and Vartika’s performance, Basu couldn’t help but compliment them. He jokingly said, “Should I go back and reshoot the song?” He praised the duo, saying, “Very well done, very beautiful, graceful, and just stunning. Vartika and Nepo, you both are working together for the first time, and you’re amazing. It’s difficult to match up to Vartika, but Nepo, you are a very graceful dancer, very gentle, and incredibly beautiful.
As the song “Dil Kyun Yeh Mera” played, Anurag Basu was reminded of the late singer KK, who sang the track. Basu expressed his deep admiration for KK, saying, “When this act started, the first thought that came to my mind was KK. I miss him so much. Some of my best songs, whether it’s Gangster: A Love Story or Life in a… Metro, KK has given me such amazing songs, and this is one of them. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us.”
The upcoming episode of India’s Best Dancer will celebrate the theme “Eras of Bollywood.” Contestants will pay tribute to Hindi cinema by performing dances inspired by Bollywood’s evolving styles over the decades. From the classic black-and-white era to the colorful 90s and the energetic 2000s, each performance will reflect the rich history of Bollywood music, dance, and choreography.
