Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’s Shubhangi Atre Opens Up on Pay Disparity in TV Industry

Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain EXCLUSIVE: Shubhangi Atre Talks About Pay Gap on Women’s Day – ‘Shows Like Anupamaa Have Changed Things’

On International Women’s Day 2025, actress Shubhangi Atre, who plays Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, shared her thoughts on pay disparity, women’s equality, and strong female characters in Indian television.

Women’s Representation on TV

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shubhangi said that TV has changed the way women are shown on screen. She praised shows like Anupamaa for highlighting women’s empowerment instead of just showing them suffering.

“Now, we see strong female characters who make their own choices, stand up for their rights, and inspire others. This is a positive change, and I hope it continues,” she said.

Why Angoori Bhabi Is Special to Her

Talking about her roles, Shubhangi said that every character she plays is important, but Angoori Bhabi holds a special place in her heart.

“She is innocent, kind, and full of love. Her simplicity and purity connect deeply with me. Even though she is fun-loving and humorous, she represents the goodness in people, which is something I truly appreciate.”

Pay Gap in the Industry

Shubhangi also admitted that gender-based pay disparity still exists in the entertainment industry.

“Even though things are improving, men still get paid more than women in many cases. It’s time we focus on talent and hard work rather than gender when deciding salaries. Women contribute equally to a project’s success and deserve equal pay and respect.”

Changes She Wants to See

When asked what changes she would like in the industry, Shubhangi said:

✅ More respect and equality for women in all areas
✅ Equal pay for women who work just as hard as men
✅ A safe and supportive work environment
✅ Women feeling confident and fearless in making their own choices

Social Media’s Impact on Women

Shubhangi believes social media has helped women express themselves and grow.

“Many female influencers are doing great work and inspiring others. However, gender bias still exists. Women often face more criticism and trolling than men. But things are improving, and I believe social media can be a powerful tool for women to raise their voices and inspire millions.”

The Women Who Inspire Her

When asked about her biggest inspirations, Shubhangi said:

“I look up to every woman in my life—my mother, my sister, and my daughter. Every day, I get inspired by them in different ways. My mother’s strength, my sister’s support, and my daughter’s innocence keep me motivated and grounded.”
