Bigg Boss 18: Shilpa Shirodkar Reveals Why She Missed Out on the Iconic Song Chaiyya Chaiyya
In tonight’s episode of Bigg Boss 18, Shilpa Shirodkar opened up about an interesting incident from her past. During a casual conversation with housemates Chum Darang and Karan Veer Mehra, Shilpa shared how she was initially approached for the famous song Chaiyya Chaiyya, which ultimately starred Malaika Arora and Shah Rukh Khan.
Shilpa’s Story About Chaiyya Chaiyya
Shilpa revealed that Farah Khan, the choreographer of the song, had reached out to her with the offer. However, Farah told Shilpa she needed to lose some weight to be part of the project. Despite this, after about a week or ten days, Farah decided not to cast her.
When Karan Veer Mehra asked if the rejection was due to her not losing weight, Shilpa candidly replied that Farah had told her, “You are fat for the song.” The light-hearted revelation left Karan laughing, and he joked, “Tu chadti toh train rukh jaati kya?” (Would the train have stopped if you climbed on it?)
Shilpa added that only Farah Khan and Dil Se director Mani Ratnam could explain the actual reason for her rejection. Eventually, Malaika Arora was chosen for the song, and the rest is history.
About the Song Chaiyya Chaiyya
Chaiyya Chaiyya is a timeless hit from the movie Dil Se, directed by Mani Ratnam. Choreographed by Farah Khan, the song featured Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora performing on top of a moving train.
