Bigg Boss 18’s Hema Sharma Opens Up on Financial Struggles: ‘No Change in Life

Hema Sharma, former Bigg Boss 18 contestant, recently spoke about her struggles since leaving the show. Contrary to what people think, her life hasn’t changed much, and she’s still facing financial challenges. She even had to sell her gold earrings to cover basic expenses. Additionally, she claimed that her estranged husband has been using her fame to his advantage.

In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Hema explained that she only had Rs 50,000 when she found out she was selected for Bigg Boss 18. She was unsure if she should celebrate or worry about managing with so little time and money. With just a day and a half to prepare, Hema also felt the stress of leaving her kids behind.

As an actress known for her role in Dabangg 3, Hema tries to earn a monthly income on social media, which barely reaches Rs 50,000-60,000. This income covers essentials, but she’s had to take on all responsibilities for her kids’ needs, including food, education, and electricity bills, ever since separating from her husband in April.

Hema revealed that her husband used to send Rs 35,000 for rent, but nothing more. She added that he often taunted her about money. Before entering the Bigg Boss house, Hema said she asked several people for help, but no one responded. She left her ATM card and gold earrings with her son, fearing she might need to sell them for emergencies.

Reflecting on her time in Bigg Boss, Hema shared how she felt self-conscious seeing other contestants in trendy clothes while she repeated her outfits. She said, “I didn’t even have enough money to buy a new saree. I only bought night suits for Rs 1000 before joining, one of which tore on the first day. I spent 12 days in the house with just three nighties. Sara even lent me a kaftan when I told her I had no clothes.” Hema added that seeing everyone else in new outfits often made her feel low.

After her eviction, Hema and her husband, Gaurav Saxena, accused each other of neglecting family issues. Hema claims that her husband stopped sending her the Rs 35,000 monthly allowance and has used her fame to boost his own image. She shared, “I sold my earrings worth Rs 1,37,000 to pay rent, the electricity bill, and other expenses. This is the first time I’m revealing this because my people don’t know what I went through before entering Bigg Boss.”
