Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai Re-released on Hrithik Roshan’s 51st Birthday
Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel, who made their acting debuts in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, are celebrating the film’s re-release in theaters nearly 25 years later. The movie, directed by Rakesh Roshan, has been brought back to the big screen on Hrithik’s 51st birthday.
Looking back, Rakesh Roshan recalled a challenging time during the film’s release. In an interview with India Today, he shared how he was shot by the mafia just a week after the film premiered. This left Hrithik to manage both the overwhelming success of his debut and his father’s critical condition in the hospital.
“It was a tough time,” Rakesh said. “Hrithik had to deal with the sudden fame of a massive hit while worrying about my health. Thankfully, by God’s grace, I recovered. Our journey since then has been remarkable.”
A Special Celebration of 25 Years
Rakesh Roshan expressed joy over the film’s re-release, describing it as a proud moment. “It’s amazing to see how people still remember Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai after so many years. Even younger generations are excited to experience it on the big screen. That’s a wonderful feeling for a filmmaker,” he said.
Ameesha Patel also shared memories from the movie’s original release. In a conversation with News 24, she revealed the intense fan reactions at the time. “Hrithik and I received marriage proposals. Some fans even performed rituals with our pictures in temples. I got letters written in blood, which was very scary. We had stalkers and people following us everywhere,” she recalled.
Released in 2000, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai became a milestone in Bollywood, launching Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel into stardom. With its re-release, the film continues to evoke nostalgia and attract new fans.
