Celebrity MasterChef Promo: Vikas Khanna Shares His Inspiring Journey
The highly anticipated show Celebrity MasterChef, judged by Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Farah Khan, is set to premiere on January 27. Ahead of its launch, Sony TV has been releasing exciting promos. In a new promo, Vikas Khanna opens up about his journey and how he worked to change the way the world sees Indian food.
Vikas Khanna’s Grand Welcome
The promo begins with Farah Khan welcoming Vikas Khanna, calling him the biggest promoter of Indian food. As Vikas enters with a platter in his hand, the contestants cheer for him. Farah highlights that Vikas has won 8 Michelin stars and is recognized globally alongside famous chefs like Gordon Ramsay. Ranveer Brar also praises him, saying that Vikas’s achievements have even reached the White House.
His Struggles and Determination
Vikas then reflects on his past struggles. He recalls how, in culinary school, students were only taught French and Western cuisine, and Indian food was not considered important. He shares,
“They told us that Desi chefs can never be Michelin-starred. Only white chefs can achieve that.”
Despite these challenges, Vikas chose to focus on Indian cuisine when all his classmates opted for Western food. However, this decision cost him a job after college.
“They told me, ‘You’re a Desi chef; Desi food has no standard.’ But I was determined. Even in America, I believed that the time for Indian food would come.”
From Struggles to Success
Vikas proudly recalls that when Donald Trump was about to become president, his restaurant was ranked as the number one reservation spot in the U.S.. Hearing this, contestant Rajiv Adatia praised him, saying that he has made every Indian proud.
