CID: A Fan Favorite Returns
CID, a show that entertained audiences for an incredible 18 years, is back with its second season. The crime series remains a fan favorite, known for its short, crisp episodes that never drag on unnecessarily. With its ever-changing storylines, CID has been a platform for many character actors to shine.
In a chat with Pinkvilla, Dayanand Shetty, who famously played Daya in the series, revealed how CID became a “stepping stone” for numerous actors.
How CID Helped Aspiring Actors
Speaking about the opportunities the show provided, Dayanand explained, “CID and other crime-based shows gave aspiring actors a chance to pursue their passion. These shows had episodic characters, and many talented people got their break through such roles.”
He added, “If you look back 20-25 years ago, you’ll see that many of these actors were just starting out. They worked with us when they were unknown, and CID helped polish their talent. Later, they went on to star in big shows, playing lead roles or memorable characters, and built careers that lasted decades.”
The Importance of Shows Like CID
Dayanand emphasized the importance of such shows, saying, “CID was like a stepping stone for many, an entry into television. There are so many people who hope for shows like CID to return because it gives them a platform to showcase their talent. I think there should be more shows like this on TV.”
Aditya Srivastava’s Take
Aditya Srivastava, who also stars in CID, joked about the need for episodic characters. “Even we need a murderer,” he laughed. “Otherwise, what would we do?”
