Controversy-Ridden Actor: From Govinda Films to TV Fame – Know Their Story

Meet the Actress in the Spotlight: From Working with Govinda to Leading TV Shows Amid Controversy

Rupali Ganguly, a well-loved name on Indian television, is making waves not just for her acting but also due to a major controversy. While she’s now a leading star, not many know that she once worked alongside Bollywood icon Govinda in the 90s. Here’s a closer look at her journey and recent challenges.

A Star with Humble Beginnings

Born on April 5, 1977, in Mumbai, Rupali is the daughter of filmmaker Anil Ganguly and Rajni Ganguly. Before acting, she studied Hotel Management and explored her passion for theater. She made her debut at just seven years old in her father’s film Saaheb in 1985 and also appeared in a Bengali film at 12.

Her television journey began in 2000 with the show Sukanya.

Working with Govinda

Before becoming a household name on TV, Rupali worked in Bollywood. In 1997, she starred alongside Govinda in Do Ankhen Barah Hath. Their song Jo Bhi Dekhe Aapko became a hit, sung by the legendary Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

Television Success

Rupali’s acting career took off with roles in shows like Sukanya, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Zindagi… Teri Meri Kahani, and Sanjivani: A Medical Boon. However, her breakthrough came as Monisha Sarabhai in the comedy series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, where her performance was widely appreciated.

She also appeared in popular shows like Bhabhi, Bigg Boss 1, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2. Currently, Rupali plays the lead role in Anupamaa, one of the most successful TV dramas.

A Personal Life in the Headlines

Rupali is married to Ashwin Verma, and they have a son named Rudraansh. However, her family life has recently made headlines.

Her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, accused Rupali and Ashwin of abusive behavior. Esha alleged that Rupali mentally and physically harmed her and her mother, claimed she was involved in an affair with Ashwin, and accused her of stealing jewelry.

In response, Rupali took legal action, filing a Rs 50-crore defamation suit against Esha. Her lawyer stated that Esha has since removed the allegations and deactivated her social media accounts.

Continuing to Shine

Despite the controversy, Rupali remains a celebrated actress. Her journey from working with Govinda to becoming a television icon is a testament to her talent and resilience.
