Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy: Cyrus Broacha Defends BeerBiceps, Calls Out ‘Overreaction’ in India’s Got Latent Scandal
Comedian and former Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant Cyrus Broacha has spoken in support of Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, who are facing backlash over the India’s Got Latent controversy. Many other celebrities have also reacted to the issue.
Cyrus Broacha Calls Out the Outrage
At an ABP News event on Friday, Cyrus Broacha criticized the way Ranveer and Samay were being treated. He said, “In India, people keep using two words—‘Parampara’ (tradition) and ‘Sanskriti’ (culture). But your tradition and my tradition, your morality and my morality, can be different. Let’s be real—how many of you have watched porn? Or rather, how many of you haven’t? If so many things are easily available on the internet, why is this being made into such a big issue?”
Cyrus also slammed the legal action taken against Ranveer and Samay, saying it was unnecessary. He pointed out that India’s Got Latent is inspired by Kill Tony, a well-known international roast comedy show. He added, “This is a roast show. People talk like this in comedy. They are not criminals, and their careers should not be ruined over this.”
What Sparked the Controversy?
The backlash started when a clip from India’s Got Latent, an adult comedy show, went viral. The episode, hosted by Samay Raina and featuring Ranveer Allahbadia as a panelist, contained explicit jokes that many people found offensive. Critics accused the show of being indecent and disrespecting Indian culture.
As the outrage grew, Ranveer Allahbadia quickly issued an apology, saying he never meant to hurt anyone and that comedy isn’t his strength. Samay Raina has also faced legal complaints, along with other panelists from the episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jasprit Singh.
Mixed Reactions from the Industry
While some celebrities support Ranveer, others believe there should be limits to comedy, especially in public spaces. Comedian Munawar Faruqui, music composer Vishal Dadlani, social media influencer Uorfi Javed, and Rakhi Sawant are among those who have shared their opinions on the controversy.
