Days of Our Lives Recap – June 11: Bo and Hope Return for John’s Heartfelt Funeral
In the June 11 episode of Days of Our Lives, the people of Salem came together to say goodbye to John Black. His funeral was emotional and full of touching memories shared by family and friends.
John’s Funeral Brings Tears and Memories
Eric led the service, talking about his special bond with John. Even after finding out the truth about his real parents, Eric said John stayed an important part of his life. He also read a letter from Sami, who couldn’t be there in person. In it, she thanked John for giving her a happy childhood. “He didn’t ruin my life,” she wrote. “He made it so much better.”
Next, Carrie shared memories of being raised in a blended family with John and Marlena. She talked about their 1999 wedding when each child brought a flower to show unity. She recreated that moment during the service. Paul placed a rose for Sami, Belle brought daisies, Brady offered a sunflower, Eric added snapdragons, and Carrie gave orchids. Marlena watched quietly, remembering the moment with love.
Brady then shared a few funny and heartfelt stories. He talked about John’s famous eyebrow expressions that said so much without words. He also spoke about John’s late father, Timothy Robicheaux, and said John finally found peace after learning about his roots. Brady ended by calling John the “World’s Greatest Dad.”
Bo and Hope Arrive to Pay Tribute
As Eric began a prayer, Bo and Hope arrived late. They apologized but said they couldn’t miss the chance to say goodbye. Bo talked about how he and John didn’t always get along in the beginning, but over time, he saw John’s big heart. Fighting back tears, Bo promised to always carry John’s memory with him.
Marlena, who didn’t plan to speak, read a short poem about love and seasons. She spoke about their nearly 40 years together and said she hoped love would help her through this loss. Her final words were, “Goodnight, my love.”
After the Service
After the ceremony, Eric invited everyone to The Brady Pub to continue remembering John. Kayla gave Bo a hug but reminded him he shouldn’t have left the hospital. Bo said he had to be there—John was like a brother to him.
Hope held a picture of John and said she would miss everything about him. Chanel comforted Johnny, who felt unsure if his grandfather would be proud of him. Kate and Belle shared a quiet goodbye. Brady placed two gondola plates on display—keepsakes from John and Isabella’s past.
Marlena noticed some flowers and remembered how John used to bring her lilacs at work. Kayla told her the gold coin had gone missing, but Marlena accepted it. She said the coin was a symbol of hope—and now, that hope was gone.
