Deepika Padukone Says She’s Still Figuring Things Out After Welcoming Daughter Dua
Deepika Padukone became a mother in 2024 when she and her husband, Ranveer Singh, welcomed their baby girl, Dua. Since then, Deepika has shared bits of her motherhood journey through social media and interviews.
Recently, Deepika opened up about how life has changed for her since becoming a mom. She admitted that she’s still trying to understand what her new life looks like now that she’s a parent.
On May 1, 2025, Deepika attended the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai. She joined a chat with Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. During the talk, Karan asked Deepika what has changed the most for her after Dua’s birth.
Deepika explained that becoming a mother has made her more responsible. She said that before having a child, her life was all about her—her dreams, her career, and her goals. But now, everything has shifted. “You’re suddenly caring for this little person who depends on you for everything,” she shared.
She also said that being a mom is something she always wanted, and she’s truly enjoying it. But at the same time, she’s still learning how to balance her new role. “Now, the baby comes before everything else. I’m still figuring it all out,” Deepika said.
During the same event, Shah Rukh Khan praised Deepika, saying he believes she will be a wonderful mom to little Dua. The two stars have worked together in many movies, and fans will be happy to know they’re teaming up again soon.
According to Pinkvilla, Deepika has signed on for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. She is expected to start filming her part in the second half of 2025.
