The man behind the terrifying Daniel Lecho is Prashant Tamang. He is not new to fame. In 2007, he won Indian Idol Season 3 with his soulful voice and won the hearts of millions. But his path to stardom was anything but ordinary.
From Police Officer to Singer
Before entering the entertainment world, Prashant worked as a police constable in Kolkata. He took this job after his father passed away to support his family. However, his love for music never faded.
Taking a bold step, he auditioned for Indian Idol and impressed everyone with his powerful singing. His victory was a proud moment for the Nepali-speaking community. Even the Kolkata police force and political leader Bimal Gurung supported him during his journey.
A New Chapter in Acting

In 2010, he stepped into acting with his debut Nepali film Gorkha Paltan, which became a big hit. Over the years, he proved his talent by starring in several Nepali films. Now, in 2025, he has taken on his biggest acting challenge—playing Daniel Lecho in Paatal Lok 2.

The crime thriller starts with the murder of a North-Eastern businessman at a grand event in Delhi. Investigators Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) and Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh) travel to Nagaland, where they encounter the deadly Daniel Lecho.
Prashant’s performance as a cold-blooded sniper has added a gripping twist to the series, winning praise from fans and critics alike.
