Gaurav Khanna Confirms Exit from Anupamaa, Addresses Rumors with Rupali Ganguly
Gaurav Khanna, who won hearts as Anuj Kapadia in the popular show Anupamaa, has officially confirmed his exit. Fans had been speculating about his return after the recent leap in the storyline, but the actor has now clarified that he won’t be coming back, at least for now. In an interview, Gaurav also addressed rumors about a fallout with his co-star Rupali Ganguly.
Speaking to ETimes, Gaurav shared that Anuj Kapadia’s chapter in Anupamaa is currently closed. However, he left the door open for a possible return in the future, depending on the story and his availability. He explained, “Rajan sir discussed the possibility of a grand re-entry, and we waited two months for it. But the story had to move forward, and it didn’t make sense to delay it further. Rajan sir also encouraged me to explore bigger opportunities.”
The role of Anuj Kapadia was initially planned as a short three-month cameo, but it turned into a defining character over three years. Gaurav expressed his gratitude for how the role shaped his career and acknowledged the love he received from fans.
Addressing the rumors about his off-screen relationship with lead actress Rupali Ganguly, Gaurav said he avoids engaging in unnecessary controversies. “I don’t respond to rumors or give retaliatory interviews. What matters is the work we’ve done together on-screen. My focus has always been on my craft, and what happens off-camera is secondary,” he said.
He added, “Being friends with co-actors can help, but it’s not essential for delivering great performances.”
For those unfamiliar, Anupamaa recently took a 15-year leap, leading to the exit of most of the cast, except for Rupali Ganguly. Gaurav’s confirmation about his exit marks the end of an era for fans who loved his portrayal of Anuj Kapadia.
