Did Gaurav Khanna leave Anupamaa because of a fight with Rupali Ganguly? Here’s what he said – EXCLUSIVE VIDEO
Actor Gaurav Khanna became very popular for playing Anuj Kapadia in the hit show Anupamaa. Fans loved his character, and when he suddenly disappeared from the show, many were left upset and confused. Rumors started going around that he left because of a fight with his co-star Rupali Ganguly. Now, Gaurav is finally clearing the air.
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Gaurav was asked why he left Anupamaa in the middle. Was it really because of problems with Rupali Ganguly? Gaurav strongly denied these claims and said that no actor—himself or anyone else playing Anuj—would quit a big show just because of personal issues.
He explained,
“For me, Anuj Kapadia is like a comma, not a full stop. Rajan sir (the producer) didn’t kill the character. It’s just that there’s no space in the current story for Anuj. But this is Indian TV—anything can happen! Characters come back all the time. Though I’m not saying I’m returning right now, never say never.”
Gaurav added that the story has moved forward, but there’s always a chance Anuj might return. He shared that it was producer Rajan Shahi who told him the character is not over—it’s just on pause.
Talking about the possibility of returning, Gaurav said,
“Why not! Anuj is one of my favorite roles. But every story has its own journey and texture. Right now, the show’s tone is different. But if the time is right, I’d love to come back.”
After his exit from Anupamaa, Gaurav joined the celebrity cooking show Celebrity MasterChef. At first, he struggled a bit to impress the judges, but soon he was praised for his talent in the kitchen. With hard work, creativity, and dedication, Gaurav won the show and took home the Celebrity MasterChef title.
