How Shweta Tiwari Got the Role of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagi Kay
Shweta Tiwari became a household name after playing the role of Prerna in the famous TV show Kasautii Zindagi Kay. But have you ever wondered how she got the role? Shweta recently shared the story of how she bagged the lead role in an interview.
A Surprising Offer
Shweta revealed that she wasn’t expecting the role at all. The producer of the show, Ektaa Kapoor, had once called her to her office, supposedly to scold her for being late to the set. At the time, Shweta had just given birth to her daughter, Palak, and was often late to work.
Shweta remembered being nervous when she walked into Ektaa’s office. “I was so scared to meet her after pack-up,” Shweta said. It was around 9:30-10 PM, and Ektaa was sitting on a sofa. She was new to the industry and was worried about the scolding she might get.
The Unexpected Turn
When Shweta arrived, Ektaa confronted her for being late. Ektaa asked, “I’ve heard you come late on my sets. What do you think? We will wait for you?” But then Ektaa laughed and surprised Shweta by offering her the role of Prerna.
Ektaa told Shweta about the show and described how Prerna was her dream character. She asked Shweta if she could do the role without being late. That’s when Shweta realized that the producer was serious.
The Look Test
Shweta was shocked at first and didn’t believe it. But when she got a call for a look test, she knew Ektaa really wanted her for the role. Shweta gave a small audition on the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and was finally cast as Prerna, alongside Cezanne Khan.
Kasautii Zindagi Kay became a hit romantic drama, airing from October 29, 2001, to February 28, 2008, and made Shweta Tiwari a star.
