Indian Idol 15: Karisma Kapoor Reveals the Story Behind Her and Kareena Kapoor’s Nicknames Lolo and Bebo
Karisma Kapoor recently appeared on Indian Idol 15 and shared the interesting story behind her and her sister Kareena Kapoor’s nicknames. The show was celebrating 100 years of Raj Kapoor, and during the episode, a contestant’s mother asked Karisma about her nickname, Lolo.
Karisma explained, “There is a foreign actress named Gina Lollobrigida, and that’s where the nickname Lolo comes from. Also, my mother is Sindhi, and in our language, there’s a roti called ‘meethi loli’ or ‘lolo,’ so that’s where the name came from. My dad also liked the name, so it stuck.”
When asked about Kareena’s nickname, Bebo, Karisma shared, “When Bebo was born, everyone thought she should have a cute and funny name, just like me. So, dad decided to call her Bebo.”
Karisma also revealed a secret about their grandfather, Raj Kapoor. “Until today, no one knew that our grandfather had a nickname. He was called Raji because everyone said he looked like a prince with his fair skin and blue eyes.”
