India’s Best Dancer 4 has come to an exciting end with Steve Jyrwa from Shillong winning the trophy! After three months of tough competition, Steve took home the title and shared his happiness about the journey and future opportunities from judges Remo D’Souza and Terence Lewis.
Here’s what Steve shared in his interview:
How does it feel to win the trophy after so much support from the judges and fans?
Steve shared that he never expected such consistent support from the judges and audience. He said, “Getting high scores every week felt amazing, and winning the trophy feels even better. This was my first time competing solo, and I just wanted to give my best performance. I owe this victory to the audience’s support—it wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
Can you tell us about the challenges you faced as a child and how dance became your passion?
Steve explained that he struggled to even walk as a child due to calcium deficiency. But with his grandmother’s support, he found strength and eventually connected with dance. “My grandmother helped me walk and dance, and it was because of her that I pursued this passion,” he shared.
How did your family support your dance journey?
Besides his grandmother, Steve’s mother and siblings encouraged him to follow his dreams. His mom, especially, saw his love for dance and pushed him to pursue it.
What did Remo D’Souza and Terence Lewis say to you about upcoming opportunities?
Steve was thrilled when Remo D’Souza invited him to join a film project after the show. “Remo sir said, ‘When this show ends, come to me—we’ll make a movie together.’ Hearing that from my role model was a huge honor.” Remo also invited Steve to join the new show, India’s Best Dancer vs. Super Dancer: Champions Ka Tashan, and Steve is excited about the dance battles and challenges ahead.
Terence Lewis also gave Steve a life-changing opportunity, promising to help him compete internationally. “Going to an international dance competition is a dream come true, and I feel so grateful to Terence sir for making it happen,” Steve said.
What are some memorable moments with the judges?
Steve recalled special moments with Geeta Kapoor, who treated him like her own son and often blessed him with a “nazar ka teeka.” Karisma Kapoor showed him her love and encouragement, while Terence’s support and opportunity for international competition are memories he’ll cherish.
With these incredible moments and new opportunities, Steve Jyrwa’s journey on India’s Best Dancer 4 has only just begun!
