India’s Got Latent Controversy: Samay Raina Finally Appears Before Maharashtra Cyber Cell After Third Summon
After multiple summons, stand-up comedian Samay Raina has finally appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to record his statement regarding the India’s Got Latent controversy.
In February, India’s Got Latent sparked huge controversy when Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and others made inappropriate remarks on the show. This led to backlash, and the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Maharashtra Cyber Cell took action, summoning the creators to explain their statements.
While Ranveer and Apoorva appeared before the NCW, Samay Raina, who was on a Canada tour for his comedy shows, missed two summons. After he failed to appear on March 19, the authorities issued a third summon, requiring him to be present on March 24. On Monday morning, he finally appeared at the Maharashtra Cyber Cell office in Navi Mumbai to record his statement.
According to India Today, Raina had earlier requested to give his statement through video conferencing, but the authorities rejected his request.
Due to the ongoing legal case, Samay’s comedy shows had to be rescheduled. On March 20, he informed his fans via Instagram that his upcoming shows had been postponed. His shows were completely sold out, but he assured fans that refunds would be processed.
The India’s Got Latent controversy started after Ranveer Allahbadia’s comment about parental s*x and Apoorva Mukhija’s remark about vaginas received severe backlash. Many authorities criticized the show’s content, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against its creators. Following this, all episodes of India’s Got Latent were removed from YouTube.
