“India’s Got Latent Case | Maharashtra Cyber Cell sends YouTuber Samay Raina a third summons asking him to appear before them on 24th March for questioning.”
Background of the Controversy
The India’s Got Latent controversy started after creators Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija made remarks on the show that went viral. Ranveer’s inappropriate question about s*x involving parents sparked outrage, while Apoorva’s comments also received heavy criticism.
As a result, multiple FIRs were filed against them, along with Samay Raina. Many of them, including Samay, also received death threats.
Other Creators in Trouble
Apart from Ranveer, Apoorva, and Samay, other well-known creators like Ashish Chanchlani and Jaspreet Singh have also faced legal action for their comments on the show.
Apologies and Deleted Content
Following the backlash:
- Ranveer Allahbadia released a video apologizing.
- Samay Raina assured that he would cooperate with the authorities.
- Apoorva and Ranveer submitted written apologies to the National Commission for Women (NCW).
Meanwhile, Samay Raina deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube. Although several episodes were filmed, they were never released due to the controversy.
