JoJo Siwa Responds to Miley Cyrus’ ‘Closet’ Joke at World Pride: “People Don’t Want to Hear That”
JoJo Siwa has openly called out Miley Cyrus for making a joke about being in the closet during the World Pride event. JoJo made it clear that she didn’t find the comment funny and said it wasn’t something people wanted to hear—on any day of the week.
The moment happened when Miley addressed fans at World Pride through a video. In it, she said she had been “in the closet since sixth grade,” and joked that she was going back into the closet “to get more pretzels and to find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.”
JoJo Siwa Shares Her Disappointment
JoJo didn’t stay silent. She reacted to the joke by posting a picture from her 5th birthday, where she had a Miley-themed party, and wrote a heartfelt message.
She said,
“I was so happy at my 5th birthday with a Miley party, and I’m still happy now at 22. If you know me, you know Miley has been my inspiration since I was 2 years old.”
JoJo continued,
“I didn’t know how to feel about the joke at first, but after thinking about it, I don’t believe Miley meant to be hurtful. I think she just made a bad joke—one that didn’t land well.”
JoJo also shared that she sent Miley a friendly message privately, and Miley replied with kindness, saying:
“All Love. Always ❤️❤️❤️”
