Justin Baldoni’s Team Says Blake Lively Can’t Prove What ‘Never Happened’ After Losing $400 Million Defamation Case
Justin Baldoni’s lawyers have responded to Blake Lively after a judge dismissed his $400 million lawsuit against her. The judge threw out most of Baldoni’s claims on Monday, but his lawyer says the case isn’t over yet.
Judge Dismisses Most of the Case
The judge dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit against Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times. Even Marvel was dropped from the case after Baldoni’s team said a character in Deadpool & Wolverine was a dig at Baldoni.
Baldoni’s Lawyer Responds
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, told TMZ that Lively’s team’s claim of victory is wrong. He said the court allowed them to change four of the seven claims against Lively to add new evidence.
Freedman said, “This case is about false claims of sexual harassment and a smear campaign. Lively’s team calls it ‘untraceable’ because they can’t prove something that never happened.”
Friendship Fallout
Even though Lively won the court case, the fight has hurt her friendship with Taylor Swift. Swift was removed from Baldoni’s lawsuit earlier, but sources say they still don’t talk.
Background of the Case
The legal battle began six months after the movie It Ends With Us came out. Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and trying to ruin her reputation. Baldoni then sued Lively and her husband for defamation and extortion.
The case is still ongoing, and Baldoni’s team plans to continue fighting.
