EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Kajol Says She Rejected Aamir Khan’s Blockbuster Film – “I’ve Done Very Well Without Them”
Actress Kajol, known as one of Bollywood’s most talented stars, is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Maa, a mythological horror drama. In a recent exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, she shared an interesting detail—she once turned down a film that later became a massive hit. And no, she has no regrets.
Kajol Talks About Saying ‘No’ to Big Films
During the interview, Kajol was asked how difficult it is for her to say no to film offers, especially when those films go on to become blockbusters.
With her usual charm and confidence, Kajol responded,
“Honestly, it doesn’t even take me a second. If I don’t like something, I just say no.”
She then gave an example, saying,
“A prime example is 3 Idiots (laughs).”
Yes, the iconic film 3 Idiots was once offered to Kajol! But the actress said she doesn’t regret her decision.
“I believe those films belonged to the people who did them. Like they say, what’s written in your fate will come to you. And I think I’ve done very well without them.”
Kareena Kapoor Replaced Kajol in 3 Idiots
For those who don’t know, 3 Idiots is one of the most successful movies in Indian cinema. The film starred Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Boman Irani. Kareena Kapoor Khan played the female lead role, the same part Kajol turned down.
The film became the first Indian movie to cross the ₹300 crore mark at the domestic box office and remains a fan favorite even today.
Kajol’s Upcoming Movie Maa
Kajol’s next film Maa is all set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025. It’s directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Jyoti Deshpande.
Maa is being promoted as part of the Shaitaan universe and could be connected to the Ajay Devgn–R. Madhavan film Shaitaan. Kajol will be seen in a powerful, never-before-seen role as a mother who faces supernatural threats to protect her daughter.
The trailer has already received a lot of love, and now fans are waiting to see if the film can become a hit like Raid 2, Kesari Chapter 2, and Jaat—other recent mid-budget successes.
