Exclusive Interview: Kajol Talks About Kids Nysa and Yug, and What She’s Learned as a Mom
In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Bollywood actress Kajol opened up about her life as a mother to her two children, Nysa and Yug. She shared sweet moments from home, how her kids react when she returns, and the most important lesson she’s learned as a parent.
Kajol, who married actor Ajay Devgn in 1999, has always kept her family close. She often shares lovely family pictures on Instagram, showing glimpses of their everyday life. In the interview, she was asked whether her children are more attached to her or to their dad, Ajay.
She replied with a smile, “They’re both my kids. Ajay is not sitting on the sidelines. They are his kids too. They are our kids. And honestly, I’m proud to say they’re both becoming their own people.”
Kajol also shared a fun memory with her son, Yug. “I once asked Yug, ‘Who do you want to look like? Me or Papa?’ He looked at me like I had a gun to his head! Then, very calmly and wisely, he said, ‘I look like Yug. I am Yug.’ That answer says everything about my children,” she said with a laugh.
She added, “I’m really happy that I’ve raised two kids who have their own personalities. I’ve tried to teach them to think for themselves—and that’s probably my biggest success as a parent.”
Talking about what happens when she comes back home, Kajol said, “Whenever I reach home, it’s straight to ‘Mumma!’ mode. Then the whining begins—‘Why didn’t you do this?’ ‘Why didn’t you do that?’ The moment I see them, I stop being an actress. I’m just their mom.”
Kajol also remembered the moment she became a mother for the first time. “When Nysa was born, I felt like that was one exam I just couldn’t fail. I think being a mom has taken more out of me than any role I’ve played in films.”
