EXCLUSIVE: Kanwar Dhillon Talks About His Acting Journey, Udne Ki Aasha, and Anupamaa
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Kanwar Dhillon opened up about his acting journey, his experience working on Udne Ki Aasha, and his thoughts on television shows like Anupamaa.
Kanwar Dhillon, known for playing Sachin Deshmukh in Udne Ki Aasha, has come a long way since he first started acting. Looking back at his career, he shared how much he has grown and how he keeps pushing himself to improve with every project.
In his conversation with Pinkvilla, Kanwar said, “I started acting in 2012 with The Buddy Project. At that time, I had no experience in acting. When I look back at my old work, I can see that I’ve gotten better with every show. It’s not just my opinion—my fans, family, and friends who’ve followed my work since the beginning also believe this. But every time I start a new show, I always tell myself, ‘I can do better. The best is yet to come.'”
Even with the success of Udne Ki Aasha, Kanwar believes in always growing. He added, “I never want to be too satisfied as an actor because constantly challenging myself is what keeps me going. I’ve learned a lot on set and by watching my performances. Over the years, I’ve worked hard on improving myself and I’ll keep doing that.”
Kanwar also talked about how television content is changing, though slowly. “Thankfully, television is not as old-fashioned as it used to be, and there’s a positive shift in the kind of shows being made. However, when new and different content is introduced, it often gets rejected by the audience, which makes channels and producers hesitant to take risks.”
Even with the rise of OTT platforms, Kanwar is confident that television will always have its audience. “Shows like Udne Ki Aasha, Anupamaa, and others are successful because people watch them. No other platform can replace television’s unique charm.”
Kanwar shared how much he enjoys working with his Udne Ki Aasha team. “Working with Rahul sir and Rolling Tales Production has been a wonderful experience, both professionally and personally. It’s rare to find a production house that feels like family, but with them, I truly feel at home. Sometimes, even when I’m not shooting, I visit the office and spend time with the team. I hope this bond stays strong forever.”
Kanwar stars alongside Neha Harsora in Udne Ki Aasha. The show has gained popularity and often ranks in the top 3 on the TRP charts.
