Karan Veer Mehra on Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death: Emotional Revelation

Karan Veer Mehra Remembers Sushant Singh Rajput: “I Want to Punish Myself for Not Being There”

Karan Veer Mehra, the winner of Bigg Boss 18, has been enjoying the spotlight ever since his big win. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, he opened up about his life, struggles, and friendships. While talking about his journey, he also shared emotional memories of his close friend, the late Sushant Singh Rajput.

During their time together on Pavitra Rishta, Karan and Sushant built a strong bond. But Karan still carries deep regret about not being there for Sushant when he needed him the most.

Karan Veer Mehra’s Special Bond with Sushant Singh Rajput

In the Behind the Success segment, Karan was shown an old picture of himself with Sushant. Seeing the photo brought back a flood of emotions.

“I haven’t told anyone this before, but we used to call each other ‘Kameeni,'” Karan shared, laughing at the memory. He recalled a fun night when they went out to party, and they jokingly switched names for the night.

But behind the jokes, there was a deep bond of friendship and support.

“I Wish He Was Here to See This”

Talking about Sushant’s belief in him, Karan got emotional.

“I really miss him. I wish he was here to see this because he always vouched for me. He told me I had talent and deserved success.”

Karan revealed that during his lowest phase, Sushant was the one who lifted him up.

“He would tell me, ‘You are better than me.’ And I used to wonder—how can he say that? He was such a big star. But he always pushed me forward, gave me energy, and supported me.”

Karan believes that if Sushant were alive today, he would have attended his fan meet just to cheer for him.

The “Heartbreaking” Moment of Sushant’s Passing

When asked about Sushant’s sudden death, Karan Veer Mehra’s voice trembled with sadness.

“Till today, we don’t have closure. I still don’t know how to react to it.”

He deeply regrets not reaching out to Sushant in time.

“I curse myself for not being there. It would have taken just a moment to say, ‘Kamini, I’m coming over.’ But I didn’t. And it just didn’t happen.”

These unanswered questions still haunt him.

“I Will Take This Regret to My Grave”

Sushant was always a pillar of support for Karan. Whenever Karan felt low, Sushant pulled him out of his dark times. He even helped Karan land a film, Badmashiyaan.

This is why Karan finds it hard to forgive himself.

“I will take to my grave the regret that I couldn’t do the same for him.”

When he heard the news of Sushant’s passing, Karan froze for hours, unable to process the reality.

“I Want to Punish Myself”

Even today, Karan finds it difficult to talk about Sushant without feeling a deep sense of loss.

“Whenever someone asks me about him, I go down memory lane… and I want to punish myself for not being there.”

He admitted that this tragedy has changed him as a person. Maybe that’s why he has become more forgiving in life.
