KBC 16: Amitabh Bachchan’s Ganga River Secret Revealed

Kaun Banega Crorepati, the popular quiz show, continues to be one of the most-watched reality shows. Hosted by the legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan, the show always grabs the audience’s attention. In the October 2 episode, Bachchan sahab shared a personal story related to his birthplace, Allahabad.

Contestant Kishor Aher, who was on the hot seat, was asked a question about a wildlife sanctuary. The question was:

The National Chambal Sanctuary, Ken Sanctuary, and Son Sanctuary are all dedicated to which animal?
A- Tiger
B- Lion
C- Rock Crab
D- Gharial

The correct answer was Gharial, and Kishor answered it correctly, winning Rs 3,20,000. Amitabh Bachchan signed the cheque and congratulated him on his win.

After this, Bachchan sahab described the Gharial, an animal that lives in rivers, calling it a ‘weird’ creature. He then shared a memory from his childhood. He said, “I know about this animal because I was born in Allahabad. When I used to take a bath in the Ganga river, there would be Gharials in the water.”

He added, “People would always warn not to bathe in the river, saying that a Gharial could catch your leg.” For those who don’t know, a Gharial, also called a gavial or fish-eating crocodile, is an Asian crocodilian with a long, thin snout.

As the game continued, Kishor Aher eventually decided to quit after reaching the 14th question, which was worth Rs 50 lakhs. He wasn’t sure about the answer, which was related to Mahatma Gandhi’s son’s occupation, so he chose to leave the game with Rs 25,00,000.

The current season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, premiered on August 12, 2024, and has kept viewers engaged ever since.
