Ektaa Kapoor brings back a classic
Ektaa Kapoor changed Indian television with hit shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Back in the 2000s, these shows were a must-watch for Indian families, and their title songs became household anthems. Now, Ektaa is set to take fans on a nostalgic journey, but with a fresh twist!
Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay return
The original Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired from 2000 to 2008 and had a hugely successful eight-year run. Now, Smriti Irani (Tulsi Virani) and Amar Upadhyay (Mihir Virani) are returning for this special edition. Pinkvilla has learned that the project is already in the works, and the team is keeping all details top secret.
Smriti Irani, who was previously India’s Minister of Women and Child Development, is preparing intensely for her role as Tulsi Virani. The first scene of the new series will be just like the original – with Tulsi welcoming viewers into her home and introducing the family. Even the filming location will be the same as before!
Why Amar Upadhyay left his current show
Pinkvilla has also found out that Amar Upadhyay’s early exit from the TV show Doree was so that he could join this new version of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
When will the show be announced?
The return of this iconic show will bring back lots of memories for fans. Ektaa Kapoor and her team are planning to make the official announcement in June 2025.
Pinkvilla reached out to Ektaa Kapoor’s representatives for confirmation, but there was no official response at the time of publishing this article.
