After Manoj Kumar’s passing, actor Sharad Sankla, who plays Abdul in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, spoke to Pinkvilla and remembered his time working with the legendary star.
Sharad said,
“He was a hardworking director, actor, producer, and even handled the camera himself. I got the chance to work with him on a film featuring his son.”
He added,
“It was a wonderful experience. I feel lucky to have worked with Manoj ji. May his soul rest in peace, and may God give strength to his family.”

Born in 1937 as Harikrishnan Giri Goswami in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan), Manoj Kumar and his family moved to Delhi during the Partition. He made his acting debut in 1957 with the film Fashion. His big break came with Kanch Ki Gudiya.
Not just an actor, Manoj Kumar also directed several successful films like Upkar, Shor, and Jai Hind. His patriotic movies left a lasting impression and inspired generations.
