Meghan Markle Accused of Using HRH Title for Promotion, Her Team Denies It

Meghan Markle is once again in the news—this time for using the royal title “Her Royal Highness” (HRH) on a gift card. While some are upset, her spokesperson says the claim is not true.

What Happened?

The controversy started when entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima shared a photo of a gift card she received from Meghan. The card said, “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” The gift, sent about a year ago, included homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream. Lima is the co-founder of IT Cosmetics.

After the post went viral, people accused Meghan of using her royal title for personal or commercial benefit. However, according to The Sun, a spokesperson for Meghan and Prince Harry denied the claims and said the couple does not use the HRH titles.

Background on the Royal Titles

While there were no strict rules stopping them from using the titles, Meghan and Harry had earlier agreed with the late Queen Elizabeth not to use the word “royal” after stepping down from their official royal duties. This was part of their decision to leave the UK, often referred to as “Megxit.”

The couple moved to the U.S. in 2020 to raise their two children—Archie and Lilibet. This decision caused tension in Harry’s relationships with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William.

Royal Response? Not Yet.

Buckingham Palace has not made any official comment about the HRH controversy.

Meghan Talks About Her Life Now

In her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan shared personal feelings about her life after marrying into the royal family. She said she had “butterflies” at first, but things got tough quickly due to constant media pressure.

She added that now, she and Harry are finally getting to enjoy more peaceful moments together. Meghan praised Harry for being her support system, saying, “My husband’s very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful.”

Recently, Prince Harry also received a full public apology after winning a legal case against News Group Newspapers for invading his privacy.
