Mohsin Khan, a much-loved star in the television world, recently appeared as a guest on our Behind The Success segment, where he shared some surprising and personal revelations. One of the biggest shocks was his admission that he suffered a mild heart attack last year. He also talked about his decision to take a long break from work after his successful run on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
In the interview, Mohsin shared that August 12 is a special day for him—it marks the day he started his career in the TV industry, and this year, it also marked his 10th anniversary in the business. Out of those 10 years, he worked non-stop for seven and a half years and then decided to take a break for the remaining two and a half years. Reflecting on his decision to step away after the massive success of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, he said, “Mashallah, I did 1800 episodes, so I felt it was time to take a break.”
While the first year of his break was planned, Mohsin explained that health issues led him to extend his time away from acting. He opened up about the challenges he faced, saying, “I developed a fatty liver. Last year, I had a mild heart attack, which I’ve never talked about before. I was in the hospital for a while.”
Mohsin added that although his health has improved, the complications left him with a weakened immune system, causing him to get sick often. He also revealed that he was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Joking about the situation, he said, “This reminded me of the dialogue from Queen that it would have been better to just drink.”
For those who may not know, Mohsin Khan is best known for playing Kartik Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where he starred opposite Shivangi Joshi’s character, Naira. Their on-screen pairing remains one of the most popular in the show’s long history.
This interview gives fans a rare look into Mohsin Khan’s life, showing not just his professional achievements but also the personal challenges he has had to overcome.
