Bollywood People Are Very Fake”: Mithun Chakraborty’s Son Namashi Speaks Out on Favoritism in the Industry
Namashi Chakraborty, the youngest son of Bollywood legend Mithun Chakraborty, has spoken openly about the Hindi film industry. In a recent interview, he said that many people in Bollywood are “very fake,” and he believes favoritism is a big problem in the industry. However, he made it clear that his father is a rare exception.
Namashi appeared on the show Who’s On Air with Kamlksh Shetty, where he talked about his journey in Bollywood, his famous father, and the struggles of outsiders in the industry. He said that even after so many years and being a huge star, Mithun Chakraborty has always stayed humble and grounded.
“Bollywood people are very fake; my father is a great exception,” Namashi said. He explained that his father is honest, down-to-earth, and completely self-made — very different from most stars in the industry.
He also shared how, in the 1990s, when his father’s popularity was going down, he worked in around 100 low-budget action films in Ooty. Many people, including the media, started calling him a “B-grade actor.” According to Namashi, even though his father created his own space in the industry, the media didn’t support him because they had their favorites.
Namashi also shared his views on the “insider vs. outsider” debate in Bollywood. He said that the industry has stopped giving chances to new, unknown people. Instead, they only focus on big names, family backgrounds, and personal connections. Because of this, Namashi feels that Bollywood no longer has true superstars like before.
He added, “In the past, if you had talent, you could make it. But today, if someone like Mithun Chakraborty came from Bengal with no connections, Bollywood wouldn’t be excited to launch him.” He ended by saying, “We don’t look for talent anymore; we look for surnames.”
