In a recent chat with Rakhi Sawant, Farah Khan revealed an interesting story about how Rakhi sold her house to fund her first music video, Pardesiya. Farah, while shooting her cooking vlogs at Rakhi’s place in Dubai, recalled this surprising moment.
Farah shared, “Rakhi, do you remember before Main Hoon Na was released, you told me you were making a music video and were planning to sell your house to finance it?” Farah was shocked and advised Rakhi against it, saying, “Are you crazy? Why are you using your own money?” But Rakhi was determined. She sold her house, made the music video for Pardesiya, and it became a huge hit.
Rakhi also mentioned that even Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan appreciated her song. She said, “Shah Rukh sir told me, ‘That was a really good song you released.’” Rakhi had worked with Shah Rukh in Main Hoon Na, directed by Farah. Farah joked, “And after that, Rakhi Sawant became Rakhi Sawant.”
For those who don’t know, Pardesiya was released in 2004 and was Rakhi’s first music video. It became an instant hit and is still popular at parties today.
Farah also shared how she first discovered Rakhi when casting for her film Main Hoon Na. Rakhi made a memorable impression during her audition by wearing a bikini under her burkha, which shocked everyone. Since then, Rakhi has worked in several supporting roles in Bollywood films.
