Ranbir Kapoor, known for his outstanding performances in films like Rockstar, Sanju, Barfi!, and Tamasha, is set to take on the role of Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film Ramayana. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently discussed why Ranbir was chosen for this iconic role during a podcast on The Ranveer Show.
Chhabra explained that Ranbir’s calm and serene demeanor made him the perfect fit for Lord Rama. “He has a calmness on his face, which was exactly what we needed. Nitesh Tiwari had this in mind for a long time. It’s a great decision, and the audience will see why when the film comes out,” Chhabra shared.
Mukesh Chhabra has a long history of working with Ranbir, having collaborated on films like Tamasha, Rockstar, Bombay Velvet, Sanju, and Brahmastra. He also worked with Ranbir on the song “Tai Tai Phish” from Chillar Party. Chhabra praised Ranbir’s acting skills, noting that it’s hard to match his talent. He also mentioned that Ranbir remains unaffected by hits and flops, focusing instead on delivering strong performances.
When discussing the casting process for Ramayana, Chhabra emphasized that such decisions can’t be “calculated or manipulated.” He believes it’s important to be honest and find actors whose energy aligns with the film. He also hinted that casting for Ramayana: Part Two is underway and that a Hanuman spin-off could be in the works, potentially serving as the third part of this epic saga.
Ramayana will also feature Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, adding to the excitement surrounding the film.
