Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Legal Trouble, But Netizens Dig Up Old Kanan Gill Clip
Ranveer Allahbadia is facing major backlash over his remarks on India’s Got Latent, a show hosted by comedian Samay Raina. While many are criticizing him for his controversial question, some social media users have pointed out that similar things have been said in the past. Now, an old video of stand-up comedian Kanan Gill has resurfaced, adding a new twist to the debate.
Kanan Gill Asked the Same Question in 2015
A clip from 2015 has now gone viral, showing Kanan Gill interviewing actors Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb during the promotions of their movie Welcome to Karachi. In the video, Kanan asks them the same inappropriate “Would you rather watch…” question, creating an awkward moment.
Now, with this clip making rounds online, people are questioning why Ranveer Allahbadia is being targeted while similar incidents in the past went unnoticed.

Many users on social media have pointed out the double standards. One comment read, “Why is Ranveer facing all the heat now when this question has been around for years?” Another wrote, “Gill was a nobody back then; Ranveer and Raina are famous, that’s why they’re getting dragged.”
Ranveer’s Legal Trouble
The controversy escalated when, on February 10, a complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, Jasprit Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, and the show’s organizers. The complaint, lodged with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accused them of using abusive language on the show.
Reports suggest that on February 14, Mumbai and Guwahati police went to Ranveer’s Mumbai residence, but it was locked. A police officer stated that an inquiry was initiated, and they visited his Versova home to question him about the case.
Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina has requested an extension on his summons as he is currently on an international tour.
