Ranveer Allahbadia Row: Ashish Chanchlani Moves Supreme Court to Quash Cases Against Him

Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy: Ashish Chanchlani Moves to Supreme Court to Cancel FIRs

After Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani has now approached the Supreme Court to cancel the FIRs filed against him in Assam. The court will hear his plea today.

Ashish Chanchlani Seeks Relief from Supreme Court

Ashish Chanchlani is one of the accused in the India’s Got Latent controversy, though Ranveer Allahbadia is considered the main accused. The controversy erupted after inappropriate remarks were made on the show, which led to outrage among people and authorities.

Following this, multiple FIRs were filed in Assam and Mumbai against Ranveer, Ashish, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and others involved. Now, Ashish has moved to the Supreme Court, requesting that these FIRs be canceled.

Case Details and Supreme Court Hearing

According to a Republic World report, Ashish has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the case registered in Assam. Just like Ranveer Allahbadia, he has filed a writ petition to cancel the charges against him.

His plea was drafted by advocate Shubham Kulshreshtha and filed by advocate Manju Jaitley. The case is listed before a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh for hearing today (February 21).

This move comes after the Supreme Court granted interim relief to Ranveer Allahbadia, protecting him from further arrest in the India’s Got Latent case.

Why Was the FIR Filed?

The first FIR was filed in Assam after complaints that the show promoted obscenity. The complaint, registered on February 10, invoked multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and the Cinematograph Act.

Ashish Chanchlani’s Role in the Show

Ashish was one of the co-judges on India’s Got Latent, alongside Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Apoorva Mukhija. While he did not make any controversial remarks, his name was still included in the cases filed in Assam and Maharashtra.

Due to the growing backlash, all episodes of India’s Got Latent have now been removed from YouTube.
