Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy: His Lawyer Says He Was ‘Disgusted’ by the Comment but Questions Criminality
Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has landed in legal trouble over a controversial comment he made on the show India’s Got Latent. His lawyer, Abhinav Chandrachud, strongly condemned his statement but argued whether it should be considered a criminal offense.
Lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud’s Reaction
During a Supreme Court hearing on February 18, senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, who is representing Ranveer, stated:
“As an officer of the court, I am personally disgusted by what the petitioner has said. But the legal question is whether this is a crime.”
The Supreme Court granted interim protection to Ranveer but harshly criticized him. The court said his words reflected a “very dirty” mindset and added:
“Such behavior must be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted.”
Threats to Ranveer’s Family
Chandrachud revealed that Ranveer’s family is facing serious threats. He mentioned that:
- People have entered his mother’s clinic under false pretenses and harassed her.
- One of the co-accused in the case has received an acid attack threat.
- Former WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar (also known as Sanga) allegedly made a violent threat against Ranveer.
Legal Arguments & Supreme Court’s Order
The lawyer also argued that multiple FIRs (First Information Reports) filed across different states were an abuse of legal process. He pointed out that:
“A second FIR on the same matter is an abuse of process.”
Despite these arguments, the court remained firm in its criticism. Justice Surya Kant stated:
“He should be ashamed of what he has done to his parents.”
However, acknowledging the threats against Ranveer, the court allowed him to seek protection if needed.
Supreme Court’s Final Decision
The Supreme Court placed some restrictions on Ranveer Allahbadia, including:
✅ He must submit his passport to the police.
✅ He cannot leave India without the court’s permission.
✅ The FIRs in Maharashtra, Assam, and Jaipur are on hold, but he must cooperate with the investigation.
This case continues to make headlines as debates around freedom of speech vs. responsibility in public influence grow.
