Ranveer Allahbadia Row: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Demands Action

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Urges Central Government to Regulate Social Media Content Amid Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy

The controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia and his remarks on India’s Got Latent continues to grow. The Supreme Court recently criticized him for having a “pervert mind”, and now Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has stepped in, demanding stricter regulations on social media and YouTube content.

Devendra Fadnavis Calls for Rules on Social Media Content

According to a News18 report, Fadnavis expressed concern about obscene content being promoted in the name of freedom of speech. While addressing the issue, he said:

“No doubt, one has freedom of speech and expression, but that does not mean they can take away another person’s right to freedom of speech by misusing their own. One cannot justify obscene content under the pretext of free speech.”

Government Planning to Regulate Online Content

Fadnavis also urged the Central Government to bring in rules for regulating content on social media platforms and YouTube. He explained that earlier, content was limited by geographical boundaries, but now, there are none.

“We are in talks with the Central Government to create regulations for social media content,” he stated.

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Legal Situation

Since his controversial comments, Ranveer has been receiving death threats. The Supreme Court has granted him interim protection, meaning:

✅ He must submit his passport to the police.
✅ He cannot leave India without the court’s approval.
✅ The FIRs in Maharashtra, Assam, and Jaipur are on hold as long as he participates in the investigation.

Additionally, Ranveer, Apoorva Mukhija, and Samay Raina have been instructed to take a break from work for now.
