Supreme Court Orders Ranveer Allahbadia to Surrender Passport in Controversy Case
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, is facing legal trouble over his controversial comments on the show India’s Got Latent. The Supreme Court ruled on his plea on February 18, giving him temporary protection from arrest but with strict conditions.
Supreme Court’s Ruling on Ranveer Allahbadia
Ranveer had approached the Supreme Court last week seeking relief from multiple FIRs filed against him across India. His case was presented by senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, son of former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
As per ANI reports, the Supreme Court granted him protection from arrest but ordered:
- No new FIRs will be filed against him based on the episode.
- He must cooperate with the investigation.
- He must surrender his passport to the police.
- He cannot leave the country without permission from the court.
- He and his team must step away from show business for some time.
Court’s Strong Words on His Comments
While granting protection, the Supreme Court strongly criticized Ranveer’s remarks. The court said:
“The words you have used are shameful. Parents will be ashamed, sisters will be ashamed, and the entire society will feel ashamed. This shows a perverted mindset. The level of depravity is shocking. We have a judicial system governed by law, and if there are threats, the law will take its course.”
Summoned by Maharashtra Cyber Cell
Meanwhile, Ranveer has been summoned for questioning by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for the third time. He is expected to appear on February 24.
Earlier, the Mumbai Police had called him for questioning on February 13 and 14, but he did not show up.
This ruling gives some relief to Ranveer but also comes with serious legal consequences as the case moves forward.
