Ranveer Brar’s Journey from Lucknow to Success
Born and raised in Lucknow, Ranveer Brar’s love for food started in the city’s busy streets. He was fascinated by traditional kebab vendors and the rich food culture of his hometown. However, his family was not supportive of his dream, as becoming a chef was not seen as a secure career. But Ranveer followed his passion and worked hard. By the age of 25, he became one of the youngest executive chefs at a five-star hotel in India.
The Struggles of Opening His First Restaurant in Boston
Despite his success in India, Ranveer wanted more. He took a big risk and moved to Boston to start his first restaurant. At first, the business did well, but he struggled to understand the local culture, and within two years, the restaurant shut down.
This was a huge setback. Ranveer lost everything, went bankrupt, and was almost homeless. He hid his struggles from his family and tried to find a way to survive.
Finding Hope in a Gurudwara
During his lowest phase, Ranveer found comfort in a Gurudwara’s kitchen, where he helped cook for langar (community meals). This reconnected him with his love for food and gave him the strength to start again. Slowly, he found a new job and began rebuilding his life.
A Turning Point: Coming Back to India
In 2012, Ranveer returned to India after his father was diagnosed with cancer. This changed everything. He started hosting cooking shows, which made him a beloved culinary personality.
Today, he is a celebrity chef, a judge on MasterChef India and Celebrity MasterChef, and even stepped into acting with Buckingham Murders, where he shared the screen with Kareena Kapoor.
