Ravi Dubey on Why He and Sargun Mehta Chose to Self-Fund Their Production House
Popular TV couple Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta are not just talented actors but also successful producers. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, they talked about their journey, struggles, and why they decided to produce shows without investors.
People Doubted Their Decision
Ravi and Sargun revealed that many people were skeptical when they started their production house, Dreamiyata Drama. Ravi shared, “Even now, people ask us—why are you investing your own hard-earned money? Our shows are expensive to make because we maintain high production quality. We want them to look as premium as international web series, so that no matter where people watch, they don’t feel it is any less than top Turkish dramas.”
He further explained, “We use high-end film cameras, which require a lot of financial investment. But we don’t have any investors—it’s just me and Sargun managing everything with our own money. Many people don’t understand why we are doing this when there are so many investors available in the market.”
“We Want to Be Answerable Only to Ourselves”
Ravi made it clear that they don’t want investors because they prefer being responsible only to themselves. He said, “Me and Sargun don’t want to be accountable to anyone else. Investors often doubt your intentions and question your ability to return their money. We don’t want to deal with that pressure.”
He added, “For us, this is more than just business—it’s about passion and learning. If we make money, great! If not, we’ll at least gain valuable experience.”

On the work front, Ravi Dubey will soon be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
