“I’m Just a Girl Trying to Live”: RJ Mahvash Talks About How Rumors with Yuzvendra Chahal Affected Her
RJ Mahvash recently opened up about how false dating rumors with Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal affected her deeply. She shared that the online trolling got so bad, it made her want to quit everything.
After Chahal’s divorce from Dhanashree Verma, Mahvash was often seen with him—at matches and even traveling on the team bus. This sparked rumors that they were in a relationship. However, in a recent interview with The Free Press Journal, Mahvash explained how much these rumors hurt her.
She said, “I kept asking myself, ‘Why are people doing this to me? I’m just a girl trying to live my life. Why are they being so cruel when they don’t even know the truth?’” The negativity and false stories made her feel overwhelmed, and she even thought about quitting social media and stepping away from the public eye.
At one point, Mahvash said she wished she could just disappear into the mountains and live a quiet life selling Maggi noodles. “I didn’t want the attention anymore. The trolls really affected me,” she added.
During the interview, Mahvash also shared that her team often told her not to react immediately. But deep down, she wanted to shout out the truth. “What you’re saying is completely made up—none of it is real!” she wanted to tell people.
There were moments when she felt like writing a long post online to fight back against the rumors. But eventually, she realized she couldn’t respond to everyone or explain herself all the time.
She concluded by saying that the people spreading rumors aren’t her responsibility. “They’re not paying my bills, so I don’t owe them anything,” Mahvash said. “Just be yourself and stop trying to explain everything to everyone.”
