On November 1, the fashion world was saddened by the news that famous designer Rohit Bal had passed away at 63 due to a heart attack. Known fondly as “Gudda,” Rohit was a celebrated name in Indian fashion. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) confirmed his passing on Instagram. Many celebrities, including TV stars like Aly Goni and Kashmera Shah, expressed their grief.
Aly Goni shared a photo of Rohit Bal on his Instagram story with a touching message, “Bye bye Gudda. May your soul rest in peace, brother.” Kashmera Shah, known for her work in Bollywood and as the wife of comedian Krushna Abhishek, also shared a tribute, simply writing, “RIP.”
Throughout his remarkable career, Rohit Bal designed outfits for Bollywood stars like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra, as well as Hollywood icons such as Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Pamela Anderson. Bollywood stars, including Ananya Panday, Sidharth Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor, also mourned his loss.
The FDCI paid tribute to Rohit, posting, “We mourn the passing of legendary designer Rohit Bal. As a founding member of FDCI, his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern designs redefined Indian fashion and inspired generations. His legacy will live on in the fashion world. Rest in peace, GUDDA. You are a legend.”
