Rupali Ganguly Takes Legal Action Against Stepdaughter Esha Verma with Defamation Suit
Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly has taken a major legal step against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, by filing a defamation suit worth Rs 50 crore. Here’s why Rupali chose to go to court.
Over the past few days, Rupali Ganguly’s personal life has been in the news after her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, made accusations against her. On November 11, after a long period of silence, Rupali decided to respond legally by filing this suit.
Rupali hired celebrity lawyer Sana Raees Khan, who is also known for her appearance in Bigg Boss 17, to handle her case. The lawyer confirmed to Times Now and Telly Talk India that Rupali took this step because Esha had dragged Rupali’s 11-year-old son into the matter.
Sana Raees Khan’s team issued a statement saying, “We have sent a defamation notice to Esha Verma in response to her false and damaging statements. Rupali Ganguly strongly stands against using defamatory claims for publicity. This legal step is to protect her reputation from baseless allegations that were clearly meant to harm her standing. These actions have not only caused Rupali emotional distress but also unfairly damaged her personal and professional reputation.”
The conflict began when one of Esha’s old tweets from 2020 resurfaced online. In this tweet, Esha accused Rupali of giving strange medications to her father and claimed that Rupali was having an affair with her father, Ashwin Verma, while he was still in a second marriage. Esha labeled Rupali as “cruel-hearted” and blamed her for breaking up Ashwin’s family.
Esha Verma is the daughter of Ashwin Verma and his first wife, Sapna Verma. Ashwin and Sapna married in 1997 and divorced in 2008. Before marrying Rupali in 2013, Ashwin was married twice. The same year, Rupali and Ashwin welcomed their son, Rudransh.
Recently, Esha posted a video on social media, sharing the hardships she and her mother faced due to Rupali and Ashwin Verma.
