Esha Verma, the stepdaughter of Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly, recently shared a video detailing the difficult experiences she and her mother went through because of Rupali and her father, Ashwin Verma.
In this 13-minute video, Esha introduces herself and thanks those who have supported her. She explains that she’s sharing her story not for revenge, but to have her voice heard. She recalls painful memories that still affect her, expressing that these events have made her stand up to those who hurt her and her mother.
Esha describes how her father, Ashwin, was absent when she needed him most, saying, “What hurts me the most was the response from my own father and how he chose to mock mental health. He didn’t protect me from the hurtful comments or support me throughout my life.”
Esha also offers an apology to her younger brother, Rudransh, acknowledging any pain her earlier statements may have caused him. She hopes their father, Ashwin, can now be a good father—something she feels he struggled with in her life.
Esha goes on to share her feelings of insecurity around Rupali Ganguly. She mentions how, as a child, she looked up to her father and kept a photo of them together to remember their bond. She dreamed of becoming a filmmaker like him, but says he never supported her in that pursuit. She adds that she has often tried to express her concerns to her father, but feels he continues to side with Rupali over her.
On her Instagram stories, Esha shared a note saying, “Closing this chapter,” and added another message, “To those who continue to throw mean comments at me—shame on you. Let’s all try to do better, support each other with kindness.”
