Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, starring Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta, and Kunal Kapoor, started streaming on Netflix on April 25. Now, Saif has opened up about a surprising experience he had on the sets. Talking about his first day working with Jaideep Ahlawat, he shared that it was their first time meeting. Saif also revealed that he “hated” himself on the first day, hinting that it was a lot tougher than he had expected.
In an interview with IMDb, Saif Ali Khan remembered his first day shooting for Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. He shared that the shoot started at 1 am and ended around 5 am.
Saif said, “It was the first time I met Jaideep. As usual, I hated myself because it was the first day. Honestly, sometimes I don’t even know what I’m doing. I felt a little nervous, a little tired, and a little lost.”
Saif also talked about why he signed the film. He said the emotional depth of his character attracted him. He described his role as a “rebellious guy” who finds his own way in life but still has a good heart and always means well.
Jaideep Ahlawat also shared why he agreed to do the movie. He gave credit to the whole team — Marflix, Netflix, Saif Ali Khan, Siddharth Anand, Siddharth’s wife Mamta, and even joked about his own “blonde version” look.
Talking about Saif, Jaideep said he still finds it hard to believe he got to share the screen with him. He said working with Saif felt like a reward for all his hard work.
Meanwhile, Saif praised Jaideep’s amazing transformation for the film. He said Jaideep looked sharp, fierce, and had a strong, magnetic presence — just like a young Sanjay Dutt.
For those who don’t know, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins is now available to watch on Netflix. The heist thriller, backed by Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures, tells the story of a daring diamond robbery.
