Samay Raina on India’s Latent Controversy: 3 Months in Review

India’s Got Latent Controversy: Samay Raina Breaks Silence After 3 Months, Calls It ‘Most Testing Time’

Samay Raina is back online after a long break. The stand-up comedian and host of India’s Got Latent returned to social media after staying silent for almost three months following the show’s major controversy. Fans are excited to see him again, and his comeback post has quickly gone viral.

The controversy around India’s Got Latent started in February 2025, when comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on the show sparked outrage online. His remark about parental sex drew a lot of backlash. Soon after, Apoorva Mukhija, also part of the show, received criticism for her comments. Samay, being the host, also faced heat for allegedly promoting inappropriate content. FIRs were filed, and the controversy quickly spiraled.

Now, Samay Raina has broken his silence. He posted a video on Instagram, announcing his upcoming stand-up tour. The video shows clips of his work, the fan love he receives, and touches on the recent controversies. In the caption, he added just a heart and hug emoji — simple, but emotional.

Celebrities and fans poured in their support. Rapper Badshah commented “Baawe.” Comedy duo Funcho wrote, “Dekho, dekho wo aa gaya!” (Look, look, he’s back!). Apoorva Mukhija, who was also part of the show and controversy, called Samay a “LEGEND” in the comments.

Samay also posted on his Instagram Story:
“The most testing time of my life makes for the best comedy. I’ll see you on tour.”

Within just 3 hours, his post crossed 1 million likes, showing how much his fans missed him. Many celebs including Dhanashree Verma, Nakuul Mehta, Fahmaan Khan, and Abhishek Malhan showed their support by liking the post.

Despite the love, Samay is still facing criticism. He was recently called out again for allegedly making insensitive jokes about a blind person and a two-month-old baby suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) — a serious condition needing Rs 16 crore for treatment. Many felt he crossed the line by joking about such a sensitive issue.

Because of all the backlash, the episodes of India’s Got Latent have now been removed from YouTube. But even with the controversy still fresh, Samay has decided to move forward and get back to work.
