India’s Got Latent Controversy: Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia Questioned by Maharashtra Cyber Cell; Legal Action Likely?
Trigger Warning: This article mentions topics like sexual assault and death threats.
The controversy around the show India’s Got Latent became big news in February 2025 after people accused it of showing inappropriate content. Popular digital creators like Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Samay Raina, and Ashish Chanchlani were all involved in the issue.
Now, in the latest update, Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia have visited the Maharashtra Cyber Cell office for questioning. This comes after reports suggested that legal action could be taken against Ranveer and Apoorva for not cooperating earlier in the investigation.
According to a report by Mid-day, an official said, “The Maharashtra Cyber Cell had called Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia for the third time on Tuesday to record their statements. Both appeared at the office and gave their statements.”
Earlier, India TV reported that the Cyber Cell had sent summons to all four creators – Samay, Ashish, Ranveer, and Apoorva – to question them about the ongoing controversy. But only Samay and Ashish showed up. The report added that the Cyber Cell might consider taking legal steps against Ranveer and Apoorva because they didn’t cooperate.
For those who may not know, the issue began when an episode of India’s Got Latent went viral. It featured Ranveer, Apoorva, Samay, and Ashish. In that episode, Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial comment, which led to heavy criticism. Several FIRs (police complaints) were also filed against those involved.
After the backlash, Ranveer and Apoorva shared that they received death threats on social media. Apoorva even posted screenshots of terrifying messages she received. Some of the messages included threats of violence, acid attacks, and sexual assault. She said these screenshots were just a small portion of the hateful messages she got.
