Samay Raina to Appear Before Mumbai Police Next Month for India’s Got Latent Controversy
The controversy around India’s Got Latent is getting bigger, with multiple FIRs filed against people involved in the show. Stand-up comedian Samay Raina, who hosted the show, is now in trouble after obscene remarks were made on the platform. Due to this, an FIR was lodged against him. However, since the controversy began, Samay has not appeared for questioning as he is currently on a tour in the United States.
Samay Raina Gets Time from Mumbai Police
According to Instant Bollywood, Mumbai Police have granted Samay Raina an extension to record his statement. His lawyer requested more time since Samay is set to return to India on March 17. However, the police have clearly told his team that they cannot delay the investigation for too long.
As per Hindustan Times, Mumbai Police have asked Samay Raina to appear for questioning by March 10. Additionally, he has been given only 14 days from the start of the inquiry to report to the police.
FIRs Against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia
For those who don’t know, two FIRs have been filed against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia—one in Mumbai and another in Assam.
A police official (as per PTI) revealed that the Khar Police have been unable to reach Ranveer Allahbadia, as his phone is switched off. When teams from Mumbai and Assam Police went to his house, they found it locked.
Meanwhile, Ranveer, also known as BeerBiceps, issued a public statement, saying that he is in touch with the authorities and is not running away.
Ranveer Allahbadia Claims He and His Family Are Getting Death Threats
In his statement, Ranveer said he has been receiving death threats, not just to him but also to his family. He revealed that some people even went to his mother’s clinic, pretending to be patients, just to threaten her.
He assured that he trusts India’s legal system and is cooperating with the investigation.
NCW Summons Judges and Show Creators
The Maharashtra Cybercell has already questioned over 50 people regarding this case. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also summoned:
- Ranveer Allahbadia
- Samay Raina
- Apoorva Mukhija
- Ashish Chanchlani
- Jaspreet Singh
- The producers of the show
All India’s Got Latent Episodes Taken Down
Following huge backlash and police involvement, all episodes of India’s Got Latent have been removed from YouTube.
Now, all eyes are on Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, as fans wait to see how this controversy unfolds.
