Mahesh Pandey, a well-known scriptwriter and producer in the Indian television industry, is currently dealing with serious legal issues. The famous writer, best known for his work on Kasautii Zindagii Kay, has reportedly been arrested for allegedly defrauding a movie producer out of Rs 2.65 crore. According to the Times of India, the Amboli police have confirmed Mahesh Pandey’s arrest on charges of financial fraud. The complaint was filed by film producer Jatin Sethi, who claimed that he lent Pandey Rs 2.65 crore. Pandey had promised to return the money once he got the necessary funds. However, even after getting the money, Pandey allegedly did not repay the loan, which led to his arrest. He was held at the police station for two days and is now in judicial custody.
Jatin Sethi’s lawyer, Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, shared more details about the case. An FIR (First Information Report) numbered 0487/2024 was filed at the Amboli Police Station. The FIR accuses Mahesh Pandey, his wife Madhu Mahesh Pandey, and other family members of cheating under Sections 406 and 420, along with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The amount involved in the fraud is Rs 2.65 crore.
Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee also pointed out that Pandey was not cooperative as the situation escalated, which resulted in his arrest by Mumbai Police on August 5. Mahesh Pandey is currently in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
