Shark Tank India 4: Aman Gupta Questions Pitcher’s ‘Too Good to Be True’ Numbers, Namita Thapar Invests Rs 1 Crore
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 (March 14) featured an interesting pitch that left the Sharks both impressed and skeptical. The Bear House, a fashion brand, presented some eye-catching sales numbers, but Aman Gupta wasn’t fully convinced. Aman Gupta believed the Bear House’s sales figures were too impressive and cautioned the other Sharks to confirm their claims.
Impressive Pitch, but Aman Gupta Has Doubts
The founders, Harsh and Tanvi, showcased their brand’s 420 GSM fabric and explained what made their products unique. The Sharks were particularly impressed with Tanvi’s dedication—she had just given birth 25 days ago and was already back at work.
The duo asked for Rs 3 Crores in exchange for 1% equity.
During the pitch, Harsh mentioned that he had studied abroad. Hearing this, Anupam Mittal jokingly asked,
“Are you asking for Rs 300 crores just for your international studies? Still paying tuition fees?”
Harsh confidently responded, saying their business performance would make the Sharks willing to invest.
Marketing Mystery: How Do Customers Find Them?
As the discussion continued, Tanvi revealed that they do not spend on marketing. This shocked Namita Thapar, who immediately asked, “Then how do customers find you?”
The pitchers explained that their product quality speaks for itself. However, the Sharks pointed out that customers only know about quality after purchasing.
Aman Gupta wasn’t convinced and said, “No, something doesn’t add up.” The pitchers claimed they had spent only 6-7% on marketing so far.
Aman’s Surprise Moment
While Namita praised them, saying “Well done!”, Aman interrupted, “No, not well done yet. Let me ask a question. This might be too good to be true.”
As the pitchers defended their numbers, Aman commented, “If you guys are doing so well in the market, I should have heard about you.”
To everyone’s surprise, the pitchers then said, “Recently, we even got an award from you.”
Aman was shocked and asked, “From me?”
Namita laughed and teased him, “What’s wrong with your memory?”
Anupam Mittal joked, “If he had received the award himself, he would have remembered!”
Namita Thapar Closes the Deal
After some negotiations, Namita Thapar made an offer:
- Rs 1 crore for 1% equity
- Rs 2 crores as debt at 10% interest for 5 years
The deal was sealed, making it another exciting episode of Shark Tank India 4!
